OMTOU transformed from a city exploration app with mystery locations to OMTOU V2, which uses user-recorded sounds to create unique, curiosity-driven urban experiences.

OMTOU started as a social entertainment app centered around mystery boxes—locations hidden within the city that users could explore without prior knowledge and the app is guiding them to those. Maintaining this mystery-based curiosity-driven theme, we developed OMTOU V2, which transforms user-recorded ambient sounds into captivating experiences, thereby redefining urban exploration and foster an unique social connection.

Interesting insight
Our initial user testing involved playing random recorded, ambient sounds to participants and asking them to imagine the locations these sounds could represent. Surprisingly, 80% envisioned locations inaccurately, revealing that sound alone could evoke rich, unexpected narratives and emotional responses.
