The NEO P1 has captured attention with its initial success and burgeoning public interest, yet the specialized care it requires poses a significant challenge. Our proposed solution is a user-friendly onboarding app that guides new owners through each step of care from the moment they receive their plant. The app will also function as an educational hub, offering a Q&A platform for immediate inquiries and integrating an e-commerce feature for convenient purchase of necessary supplies. This approach simplifies the NEO P1 ownership experience, making the care and maintenance of this unique plant more accessible to all.

Exploring NeoP1's online presence from a customer's viewpoint, I found that while the website and social media content are engaging and visually appealing, locating specific care instructions for the NeoP1 proved challenging. Although there is a wealth of scientific research and data available, providing a solid background on the plant's development and legitimacy, immediate access to a straightforward care guide is lacking. Users seeking direct care tips are directed to interact with the NeoBot or to inquire through email or Instagram for specific guidance.

To determine what users require from a platform dedicated to synthetic biology plant care, I conducted a questionnaire-based interview and posted it online within communities focused on science, biotechnology, digital technology, and plant care.

This classification helps assess the significance of each feature against potential budget constraints and prioritizes those that offer the greatest benefits to users.

By integrating a small NFC tag within the vase itself, users can simply scan it as soon as they unbox their plant. This immediate scan will direct them to a webpage containing all necessary setup instructions for caring for the plant right from the start, without the prerequisite of downloading an app. This small, yet impactful, design tweak ensures a smoother, more intuitive introduction to their new NeoP1.
